Chapter 8: Sangeet, Spotlight & Secret Eyes

Malhotra Mansion – Two Night Before the Wedding

The Malhotra mansion was unrecognizable.

String lights looped across the open-air courtyard like stars had decided to crash the party. A golden stage stood at the center, flanked by velvet cushions, a massive LED screen, and a DJ console already pulsing with beats.

It was time for Sangeet — the night of music, masti, and mayhem.

And standing backstage in a black sherwani with intricate golden embroidery, Yuvraj Rajvansh was... nervous.

Not because of the performances.

Because Yukti Malhotra hadn’t arrived yet.

Enter the Showstopper*******

When she finally did, everything else dimmed.

Yukti's and yuvraj's outfit

Dressed in a golden lehenga that shimmered like sunlight, her hair in soft curls, and statement jhumka that brushed her collarbone — Yukti looked like royalty and rebellion rolled into one.

Yuvraj forgot to breathe.

“Bhabhi, aap toh literally light reflection ban chuki ho,” Yugant grinned, bowing dramatically. “Disco balls are jealous.”

Yukti rolled her eyes.

“Wait till I dance. Then the floor will catch fire.”

“Someone’s confident.”

She turned. Yuvraj. Closer than expected. Smirking.

She raised a brow.

“Scared you’ll get outshined?”

“Try me.”

Let the Sangeet Begin!********

Lakshmi and Raghav were pulled up first for a sweet retro medley, dancing to “Badan Pe Sitare Lapete Hue.”

Then came the Rajvanshs — Yugant leading a hilarious medley with Manjri on “Cutiepie,” “Gallan Goodiyan,” and a surprise remix of “She’s On Fire.”

Yukti burst out laughing when Manjri lip-synced dramatically in a feather boa.

Then, the screen lit up:

“Doctor Yukti: From Scalpel to Stage!”*****

Cheers exploded.

Yukti took the stage, her golden lehenga twirling like stardust as she danced to “Ghaghra,” followed by a powerful mix of “Rang lageya” and “Param Sundari.”

She didn’t just dance — she owned it.

And she never looked at Yuvraj once.

Which only made him restless.

Yuvraj’s Turn: A Surprise Solo************

No one expected him to go next.

Especially not alone.

He stepped on stage in his bold black-and-gold sherwani, the lights dimming, the beats starting.

The first notes of “Raataan Lambiyan” filled the air.

He danced — not professionally, not perfectly — but with a quiet passion that turned every eye.

And in the middle of the performance, when the line “Mainu chhad ke na jaavin koi din vi” played...

He looked straight at Yukti.

Only her.

The crowd whistled. Yukti’s breath hitched.

Post-Dance – The Confrontation*****

Backstage. Yukti was sipping water when she felt him behind her.

“You didn’t clap,” he said quietly.

“You didn’t tell me you could dance.”

“I can’t. That was for you.”

She turned, unsure what to say.

He added, softer,

“You looked... unstoppable tonight.”

She blinked, something warm flaring in her chest — until someone walked up.

Click-click of heels. Cold perfume.

Kritika.

Wearing a deep wine-red saree, bold lipstick, and eyes that scanned Yukti like an X-ray.

“Beautiful performance, Dr. Yukti,” she said sweetly. “You’re really glowing. Must be the excitement... or adrenaline.”

Yukti’s smile was polite.

“Thank you.”

Yuvraj’s jaw tightened.

“Kritika. Why are you here again?”

“I just wanted to wish the couple. But more than that…”

She looked at Yukti, voice velvet-smooth.

“I was curious. Curious how much someone can love a man... without knowing his full truth.”

Yukti frowned.

“What truth?”

Kritika smiled.

“Nothing. For now.”

She walked away, leaving behind perfume and poison.

Later – Terrace Scene Under the Stars*******

Yukti found herself on the terrace, away from the music, eyes on the moon.

Yuvraj joined her. No words at first.

Finally, she asked,

“Do you still love her?”

“No.”

He replied without delay.

“But I used to. And she broke more than just my heart. She made me feel unworthy.”

Yukti turned to him, her voice softer.

“You’re not.”

He looked at her.

“I don’t want to bring past shadows into our future.”

"Then don’t. But if they follow us... I’ll help you face them.”

Silence stretched.

“I don’t know what this is between us,” she said.

“Neither do I. But I want to find out.”

Their fingers brushed.

Neither pulled away.
